Grounding of a Steamer.
Auckladd, January 1
The steamer Daldorch, which grounded on a mud bank near Bean Rock lighthouse on Thursday evening, and was successfully towed off again, was examined this morning by Lloyd’s representatives Clayton and Planket), and was found to be undamaged. She resumed her voyage to Wellington shortly after 5 p.m., Pilot Sainty taking her out of port as far Reef, where her master (Captain Pearsou) assumed command. Died on way to Hospital. Nelson, January 1. < Thomas Kennedy, who cut his throat on Thursday, died in the train while being brought to the hospital this morning. Napier, January 1. Messrs W. H. Hyslop and H. L. Schaeffer, of Hastings, left Wellington post office at 4.30 this morning for Napier on motor cycles. Schaeffer reached Napier post office at 1.9 p.m., and Hyslop at 1.44 p.m., Schaeffer’s full time was 7hr. 30mm., and his actual riding time was 6hr, 59mm. Both riders had tyre mishaps at a tram line, and Hyslop had a collision with a dray.
