THE MINISTRY.
u* It is understood that the question of the new Ministers was finally settled at a meeting of the Cabinet held on Thursday. Sir Joseph Ward informed a pressman that bis mind on the question was made up immediately after the elections, and that he has had no reason to change it. It is probable that no announcement regarding the Cabinet changes will be made till just before or after the Christmas holidays.
Mavok Nash, of Palmerston North, has forwarded us five subscription lists for the Palmerston North Hospital and Aid Society, of which he is President, with a request that we will do our best towards collecting funds for the institution. A large number of patients are admitted to the hospital from this district, and it behoves us to do our share towards its upkeep. Many people are under the impression that the hospital is a Palmerston institution pure and simple. This is erroneous. It is a district hospital and Foxton has as much interest in its upkeep as any other town or borough. What we contribute in rates is small in proportion to the benefits received. We shall be pleased to acknowledge receipts of voluntary donations or to hand over lists to any person who feels desirious of canvassing for subscriptions. This is the time of the year when we should especially remember the sick and afflicted, and we hope there will be a liberal response to the appeal. The lists will be closed on January 31st, 1909.
