SCHOONER ASHORE AT WANGANUI.

Captain in a Perilous Plight

Wanganui, December 18

The three-masted schooner Ururoa got among breakers off the South Spit on Thursday night. This morning it was found that she had drifted some three miles along the beach. The crew, with the exception of the captain, came ashore during the afternoon. They had to spend most of the night in the rigging. Attempts are being made to-night to rescue the captain, Harris, who is still in the rigging. A heavy sea is running, and it is feared that the Ururoa is breaking up.
