SCHOOL HOLIDAYS.

The pupils attending the local State School broke up for the summer holidays yesterday afternoon. At 2 p.m they assembled in the spacious quadrangle when brief addresses were delived by the chairman and secretary of committee (Mr Horublow and Rev. Mr Aitken). Reference was made to the prize-giving ceremony and picnic to take place before the school re-opens. The pupils were urged to excel in their studies during the coming year. Cheers were given for the headmaster and teaching staff and for the committee and also for Mr Perreau who kindly provided lollies for the scholars. The singing of the National Anthem terminated the proceedings.
