MURDERED IN BED.

Sydney, December 13. A mysterious tragedy is reported from Arm id ale. A servant at the Central Hotel awakened early this morning, hearing a gurgling sound. Eooking across at the bed which a waitress, Hannah Kelly, was occupying, she saw a man bending over Miss Kelly, and using a knife. The man rushed to the window and escaped. Miss Kelly is dead. Her throat was cut from ear to ear. A man has been arrested on suspicion. Details are meagre. Sydney, December 14.

No motive has been discovered for the crime, Miss Kelly had been employed at the hotel only a few weeks.

An engagement ring she had received from her sweetheart the the previous night was found under her pillow.
