In dealing with the question of the coming reconstruction of the Cabinet, the West Coast Times says :—“ We will certainly be surprised and disappointed if the Hon. A. R. Guinness’ many claims as a staunch member and supporter of the Liberal party are not recognised wheu the new appointments are being made to the Cabinet. Christchurch, December 14. A telegram was sent to Arust at Wanganui this morning :—“ The members of the Christchurch Cycling and Motor Club unite in wishing you every success in tomorrow’s great race. They feel perfectly satisfied that the best traditions of your old club are in worthy hands. Their thoughts and best wishes will accompany you, and by none will your success be hailed with greater delight.” Auckland, December 14.

A sudden death occurred in the billiard room of the Oxford Hotel, Victoria-st., on Saturday night. William Harrison was walking away from the table after playing his shot when he collapsed and was removed to the sitting room. He appeared to revive some what and alter a rest expressed a wish to go home. He walked out of the room with this intention, but collapsed again in the passage and died before medical assistance could arrive. Deceased was a single man, aged 70 years, and lived at Freeman’s Bay. He had been in very poor health for some time and was discharged from the hospital about two months ago. Wellington, December 14.

Peter Colin Hume, aged 20, was handling a revolver at his residence, Kilbirnie road, when the charge exploded, the bullet lodging in his head. He was taken to the hospital. His condition is said to be serious.' A man named Thomas Randell, who arrived from Sydney a fortnight ago, is reported by the police as having been missing since last Wednesday. He had been in a depressed state of mind through being out of work.
