CRICKET.
The first match in the competition for the Austin Shield was played on the Park pitch yesterday afternoon between the Foxton and Debaters and resulted in a win for the former by 7 runs on the first innings. The Foxton team played two men short. For Foxton Baillie and Cook were the chief scorers, and W. Nye was most successsful with the ball. W. Gordon was the mainstay of Debaters scoring 23 not out and capturing four wickets for 30 runs. FOXTON.
