HORTICULTURAL SHOW.

It is hoped that the stress of politics and the local option poll has not overshadowed the fact, that the Foxton Horticultural, Floral, Industrial and Poultry Association’s inaugural Show is to be held on the 2nd and 3rd of December next. Exhibitors should apply to Mr P. H. Rae-Howard for particulars. It is hoped that there will be a large number of local entries in all classes. Any exhibits of merit not mentioned iu the catalogue will be awarded prizes. Full particulars later.

A meeting of the Foxton Horticultural, Floral, Industrial and Poultry Association was held in the Secretary’s office, on Friday evening last. There was a good attendance of members present, Mr A. Spiers, Vice-President occupying the chair. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Mr F. W. Mayo’s special prize of a box of dessert peaches was allotted to the best collection of fancy work (not before exhibited). Proposed by Mr Baker, seconded by Mr Bullard, that all children’s exhibits be free.—Carried.

It was resolved that posters be printed and distributed mentioning the special prizes. Proposed by Mr Bullard, and seconded by Mr Baker, that Mr Hornblow (Chairman of the local School Committee) interview Mr Adams (Headmaster) with regard to informing the school children of the Show and exhibits, etc. — Carried.

Proposed by Mr Baker, seconded by Mr Woods, that Mr Wighton he asked to judge the gardens for Mr Alex. Speirs’ special prize of £i is.—Carried. Proposed by the Secretary, and seconded by Mr Woods, that the matter of refreshments be left in the hands of the Indies’ Committee (carried). It was resolved that a meeting of the Indies’ Committee be held in the Secretary’s office on Wednesday next at 3 p.m. It was also resolved that a general meeting be held on Thursday next, at 8 p.m., to appoint stewards and arrange all Show matters.

Proposed by Mr W. Nye, ‘seconded by Mr Bullard, that the matter of engaging the Band be left in the hands of the Secretary (carried). Proposed by Mr Newth, seconded by Mr W. Nye, that all members that have sold tickets hand in the money at next meeting (carried). A vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting.
