Sir, —In supplement to what 1 said in your issue of the xoth inst., I should like to mention that I omitted to state, at the time, that I was in communication with one of the leading firms of solicitors in Wellington to ascertain whether the references to me by one of my opponents in the present parliamentary struggle are not actionable. I think there should be some protection for a candidate whose every word and action throughout the contest has been honourable, as mine has been.— Yours etc.,
