ELECTION DAY.

Final Arrangements

The chief Deputy Returning Officer for Foxton (Mr Alfred Fraser), has completed arrangements in connection with the local polling booth, which is situated in the Council Chambers. There will be two booths, over one will be the letters “ A to E ” over the other “ M to Z.” Electors must vote iu the booth over which the initial letter of their surname a; - pear. For instance Brown would have to vote iu A to E booth, while Thompson would have lo vote in M to Z booth.

It is necessary that all voters should remember that the poll closes at 6 o’clock and not 7 o’clock as in the case in local elections, and vve strongly urge electors not to leave the recording of their vote till five or after, lest they get shut out at six o’clock, because it does not matter how perfect the polling arrangements may be if a large number of voters leave the recording of their votes until the last, it would be impossible to record their votes in time. The delay is not caused by the deputy returning officer, but by the voters themselves who usually take some time in reading ballot papers before signing them. The ballot papers are given out quicker than the votes are recorded.

All deputy returning officers and poll clerks are to attend the polling place on Monday night at half past seven for final instructions.

All voters 011 polling day will enter the polling booth by the front door in Main-street and leave by the side door next the Post Office.

[The Herald is working arrangements to a hoarding outside the office, and the returns will be posted up as they come in from different electorates throughout the Dominion. We hope our efforts will be appreciated and that perfect order will be maintained.]
