CRICKET.

A match was played in the Victoria Park yesterday afternoon between teams representing Foxton and the Debaters Club and resulted in a win for the former by 26 runs. Although neither team was thoroughly representative, some good play was 11 served up” for the lairly numerous crowd of enthusiasts present. The wicket was in good playing order but the outfield was very rough and accounts mainly for the small totals recorded. A feature of the game was the splendid showing made by W. Cook (wicket keeper for Foxton), who, although quite a novice in this position, only allowed half a dozen byes past him in both innings. For Foxton, Cook, Frank Whibley and Watson baited well as also did Ingram and Johnstone for Debaters. Bowling honours for Foxton fell to Frank Whibley who accounted for the downfall of 7 of the Debaters. For Debaters, Jack Walden was most successful with 6 wickets to his credit for both innings.
