MOUTOA NOTES.

[Own Correspondent.]

A social, in aid of the funds of the Methodist Church, was held last night. There was a very large attendance of Moutoaites besides visitors from Foxton and Shannon. The vocal part of the programme was opened by Mr Sheratt, who sang the “ Link Divine ” in a pleasing manner. The Misses Stansell (2) little dots, fairly brought down the house with their song, 1 ‘ When we were kids,” Miss Signal contributed two songs, one of them entitled “ Spring Flowers,” was the gem of the evening. Recitations were given by Mrs A. Saunders, Miss I Langley, and M. Walker and Mr Barraclough. One of the features of the evening was a dialogue, “The Bobbies Courtship.” The principals who took part in it were Mrs A. Sanders, the Misses Newth (2) Howe (2), and Walden, Messrs Saunders, Stromme and Pearce (2). It was acted throughout in a spirited manner and reflected credit on all who took part in it. The ladies provided a splendid supper which was much appreciated, The proceedings concluded with hearty cheers for Messrs Gardner and W. Walden for the use of their hall and piano. Heavy frosts have played havoc with the potato crops; and a considerable area will be ruined.
