The Manawatu Herald. Tuesday, October 27, 1908. VACANCY ON THE COUNCIL.
The general elections have completely overshadowed the fact that there is a vacancy in the Borough Council caused by the resignation of Cr E, W. Wilson, who has accepted alucrative position with a Wellington firm of merchants. Nominations for the position close with the Town Clerk at noon on Friday, 30th instant. An opportunity is thus afforded any citizen possessing initiative to make a name for himself. What we want badly in Foxton is a Mun'cipal Town Hall and we shall be pleased to support the candidature of any aspirant who is prepared to initiate the project. There will necessarily be a certain amount of opposition to contend with but when ratepayers learn that a properly conducted Municipal Hall is almost self-supporting that barrier will soon be swept away. Anyhow, nominations close on Friday next and we hope that the vacancy will not be overlooked.
