THE WESTPORT MURDER.
Halinen and Andersen to be Discharged.
Wellington, October 1
Cabinet to-day decided to remit the balance of the sentence imposed upon Halinen and Andersen, for the man-slaughter of Burke (the murder of whom Connolly has confessed), and to order their release forthwith. Halinen and Andersen were received in the Terrace Gaol on July 4, but were transferred ten days later to Hokitika to give evidence in the case which has led to their release.
