Some amusement was caused at the Feilding Court yesterday morning, reports the Star, during the hearing of a case arising out of a breach of the porhibition law. A female witness for the prosecution was being severely crossexamined by the opposing counsel, whose questions were in the direction of testing the credibility of the witness. Presently she angrily remarked, “I’m telling the truth ; I’m a Roman Catholic bred to the back-bone !’ ’ The point of the remark lay in the fact that the counsel is himself a Roman Catholic.
