FOXTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
A special meetingoftheFoxton Borough Council was held in the Council Chambers last night. Present: His Worship the Mayor (B. G, Gower, Esq.), Councillors Wilson, Coley, Hennessy, Jenks, Gray, and Baker. The Foxton Gas Proprietary submitted a sketch of street lamps, which they are prepared to supply at £>\ 5 s - each delivered at the Foxton Wharf, price not to include glass. Arc lamps could be supplied to put on the existing or any posts at £5 x SS. each. It was decided that Cr. Hennessy get full particulars of size, design, price, etc., of the lamps offered by the Wellington Gas Co., when he is in Wellington on Thursday, aud that the Mayor obtain particulars of the lamps used in Palmerston. A letter was read from Mr. Mason stating that he would most likely visit Foxton about the beginning of November, and would be pleased to locate any water available. Mr. Hindmarch, wrote on behalf of Mr. Stewart of Wellington, advising th it the deposited by Mr. T. W. Butcher, had been assigned to him, and asked that a cheque for the amount be posted to him. , The Clerk had replied stating that as the contract had not been fulfilled by the time allowed, the deposit had been forfeited aud was now the properly of the Borough. Cr. Heunessy interjected that the Council was belter off than they anticipated.
The Council rose at 9.5 p.m
