FLOOD GAUGES.
Tiie suggestion of Mr. Stevens th.it flood gauges be placed on the upper reaches of the Manawatu, Oroua and Rangitikei rivers and advices as to the rising of tire waters be telegraphed to lowerlevel districts is lo be kept in view till the present Land Drainage Commission submits its report. The matter will then be considered, together with the Commissioners’ recommendations and the reeds and wishes of settlers will be provided for as far as possible.
