Dunedin, September 10.

Owing to the publication of two memos, by Cr. Small and the Mayor on the financial position of the city, which were considered private and confidential, the Finance Committee, as a whole, have resigned. This led to a prolonged discussion at the City Council meeting last night, lasting till 1 o’clock this morning. At times violent language was used, the Mayor calling the Finance Committee “Cowards,” for leaving him in the lurch. A new committee was appointed.
