FOXTON TECHNICAL SCHOOL.
Opened Yesterday.
The local technical school opened yesterday, when classes for dressmaking and millinery were commenced in the old school building, under the instruction of Miss Dorrian, of the Board’s staff. The millinery class was held: in the afternoon, and the dressmaking in the evening. Two hours are to be devoted to each subject every Monday, Owing to short notice many pupils who intend to take a course of lessons, were not able to be present. It is anticipated that the classes will be doubled numerically next Monday. This course of instruction is of great benefit to young ladies who, in a very short time more than recover the small payment in fees. The classes in English and commercial subjects will commence on Friday evening next, and those desirous of improving their commercial knowledge should take advantage of the classes. Mr Andrews, the Board’s woodwork instructor, will not be able to commence instruction in relief carving, etc., before the 22nd inst., but intending pupils should send in their names at once to the local supervisor, Mr Adams.
