Calcutta, September 1. Gossani, who turned informer in June, was shot in revenge at the Alipur Gaol hospitial yesterday. His assailants were two fellow accused. They concealed revolvers supplied by visiting friends, shammed illness, and were sent to the hospital, where they shot Gossani, who died imme- • diately. Two European prisoners, who attempted to disarm the miscreants, were seriously wounded. The gaol authorities have Irequen • tly protested against the number of gaol visitors allowed. London, September 1. It is reported that Sata Khan, the leader of the revolutionaries at Tabriz, attacked the Shah’s troops during a parade. Heavy fighting ensued, and 800 were killed and ' wounded. Sydney, September 2. During a performance at Orange a gale blew down Wirth’s circus tent. A wild scene of disorder followed, in which eight persons were injured. A woman somnambulist walked across the railway line at Narrobri, and was knocked down by a train. Her leg was almost severed. Owing to a tap being left running in the floor above, £SOOO worth of stock was damaged in the warehouse of the Groves Company, York street. Melbourne, September 2. Several timber vessels are blocked owing to the strike. The stackers question the rales of pay. The stevedores have struck in sympathy. At Kalgoorlie, Walter Douglas and a girl named Ella Wayth were found dead together. A discharged revolver was alongside. It is suspected to be a case of murder and suicide.
