A cloud burst at Folsom, New Mexico, and 15 people were drowned.
Twenty bodies have been recovered in connection with the floods at Augusta. The captain of a steamer states that he saw 25 floating in the river, mostly negroes. The damage done amounts to half a million sterling. The floods are now subsiding. London, August 30.
The New York correspondent of the Times reports a sensational incident whereof President Roosevelt’s second son Kenuit was the hero. The affair occurred at Oyster Bay. A pair of horses harnessed to a carriage, containing a lady and gentleman and two children bolted.
Kermit pursued the runaways on horseback for a mile and then brought them to a standstill by seizing the reins, almost unhorsing himselt in the effort. Kermit departed without revealing his identity to the grateful occupants of the carriage. Singapore, August 30.
The steamer Duncan was capsized in a typhoon off Goto Islands. Only the third mate and the engineer .were saved out of the crew of 13 whites and 41 Lascars. , Adelaide, August 30.
Weisse and Varco’s wickerware factory was destroyed by fire. A hov was engaged burning off some rough cane ends, when a. pot of varnish became ignited, the boy s clothes were fired, and he was badly burned.
