FOOTBALL.
Anglo-Welsh Wind Up. Brisbane. August 31. The Britishers’ final match, which was against Queensland, was a hard, fast game Play at times, especially in the second spell, was very rough. McEvedy, the British skipper, had his collarbone broken. The Queenslapders displayed much better form and and combination than in the first match. The first-half ended three all, Gibbs for Britain and Gallagher for Queensland, scoring tries. Queensland opened the second spell with a brilliant attack, which ended in a try, which was converted. The final stages were exciting, the weight and better combination of the visitors eventually telling against the stubborn and clever defence. Williams and Gibbs were responsible for tries, and Dyke converted the latter.
The game ended: Anglo-Welsh xi, Queensland 8.
