High Commissioner’s Report. The High Commissioner cabled yesterday as follows : —Hemp market speculative, but quiet ; little doing, but good feeling prevails. Spot, good fair, £26 15s; fair, £2s ; fair current Manila, £23 10s. October-December shipments, good fair £26 xos ; fair, £23 10s ; fair current Manila, £23 ; week’s Manila output, 24,000 bales.
London Markets.
Messrs Dalgety and Company, Limited, Wellington, have received the following cable messages from their London House under date of the 27th instant: — Frozen meat: There is a fair demand for New Zealand lamb, but any change in prices is in favour of buyers. There is a limited demand for New Zealand beef but the market is firm owing to light stock. Better demand for New Zealand mutton. Our quotations for New Zealand descriptions are : Prime crossbred lamb, Canterbury, heavy, 5-^d; light, per lb; Prime crossbred lamb, North Island, heavy, SJ/ad5 J /ad ; light, 5%d per lb; prime crossbred mutton, Canterbury, heavy, 3f6d ; light, per lb; prime crossbred mutton, North Island, heavy, 3^d; light, 3 5 /sd per lb. Australian: There is a poor demand for Australian lamb, and quotations are—good average quality crossbred, heavy, sd; light, s^d; prime Australian crossbred mutton, heavy, 2%d. Rabbitskins: The market irregular. Since our last advices prices are at a par to j4d per lb higher. New Zealand and Australian incoming winter rabbitskins, lights, are rather lower. Other descriptions are unchanged. Out of a total offering of 2000 bales, 1720 bales were sold.
