A correspondent writes to our Palmerston evening contemporary, giving the following authentic returns from a 50-acre farm in the Glen Oroua district, which he j ustly thinks will establish a record, especially for last season, as the season itself was an unusually dry one. The herd consisted of 25 cows, and the milk was supplied to the Glen Oroua Dairy Company : £ s d Factory cheque for butter-fat ... 326 5 11 Profit on pigs ... 78 2 9 Calfskins ... 2 10 o Or an average of 5s per cow. The cows throughout had nothing but grass and hay, and and the pigs were raised almost entirely on skim-milk and other farm produce.
