London Markets.

Butter : The Copenhagen official quotation is 4 kroners (about 4s 6d per cwt) lower ; the total imports of butter into the United Kingdom for week ending 15th hist.., amounted to 85,000 cwt, as compared with 79,000 cwt for the corresponding week of 1907, showing an increase of 6000 cwt ; Australian, salted 114 s, uusalted 116 s; Prices for New Zealand butter are unchanged ; the market is steady ; it is expected that if any change in prices takes place it will be in favour of sellers. Frozen meat: Beef per lb higher; prices for mutton and lamb are unchanged. HIDE AND SKIN REPORT. Messrs Dalgety and Company, Eimited, Palmerston North, report as follows on their monthly wool, skin, hide and tallow sale held on Friday 21st August. We had a large catalogue of all classes comprising 26 bales and 84 sacks wool, 1,500 sheepskins, 400 hides, calfskins etc. 23 tins and 3 casks of tallow and other oddments. There was a good attendance of buyers and prices all through were equal to last sale rates. We quote as follows: —Wool; Crutchings, good, 3j+d to 3 3 4 d; medium, 3d to ; inferior, to 3d; bellies, locks, and pieces, ij4 to 2%d; lambs, 4%d to $4& ; crossbred, s4d to s4d ; black, 3ijd ; dead, 3d to y/id. Sheepskins: Crossbred, 3%d to and 4M to 4^d; crossbred full wool, ~4/4d to 4 3 4 d ; crossbred fine and medium, 3d tos4d; crossbred, 4 l 0 wools, 3d to 4d ; lambs, 44d, 4-4-d, to 3d; dead, to 4d ; pelts, to 2%d ; damaged and inferior, to crossbred, part dry and green, 3s 4d to 4s 3d, and 4s 6d to 4s gd ; hoggets is 5d to is 7d ; dead, 2s 7d ; lambs 4s 2d. Hides: Ox light, to 4%d ; heavy, 5/id to steers and heifers ox cut slippy, 3d to s4d ; yearlings, cut 2y6d ; calfskins, s4d, to bulls, Tallow : In tins, 19s 3d ; casks, 21s 3d to 22s 3d; fat, in bags, 17s. Horsehair: is; tips is 2d.
