The Government subsidised the cost £1 for £1 up to £SOOO, which reduced the cost to the three contributing bodies by ,£2500. The balance of cost is apportioned as follows: Manawatu County Council 5-i2ths, ,£1406 os 6d ; Horowhenua County Council 5-i2ths, same amount; Foxton Borough Council 2-i2ths, ,£562 8s 3d.

The Clerk explained that the Borough Council raised a loan of £6OO. He stated further that he had looked up the Commissioner’s finding, which did not specify any sum which each local body had to pay. At a previous meeting Cr Heuuessy was of opinion that the cost of construction was restricted to £SOOO, and that the local bodies would only pay their proportion up to that amount.
