OBITUARY.
Waiter Baker, Aged 36.
A well - known and highlyesteemed Foxton resident, in the person of Mr Walter Baker, passed peacefully away at his residence in the Avenue, at an early hour yesterday morning, at the comparatively early age of 36 years. Deceased was born in Yorkshire, and at an early age came out to New Zealand with his parents. After learning his trade as a tailor he came to Foxton and commenced business here. Some years ago he contracted lung trouble, which latterly became acute and compelled him to withdraw from business. He knew his case was hopeless, but almost every day he was to be met in the street, chatting cheerfully with old friends. Time and again his complaint would confine him to his bed, but his indomitable will would gain the mastery, but at last the grim phantom was triumphant. Some years the deceased married Miss M. Walls, who is left to mourn her loss. Deceased was the youngest son of Mr John Baker, of Foxton. The funeral will leave deceased’s late residence for the Foxton cemetery to-morrow afternoon at two o’clock.
