INSANITARY BUILDINGS .
Some time ago we directed attention to the fact that there were a number of insanitary buildings in
the town —structures unfit for human accommodation. Several owners of such property took the hint in the spirit in which it was given, and either pulled down or renovated certain dwellings. We regret to state, however, that there are still a number of buildings in the borough that require immediate attention. We are reminded of one, a rank-smelling dwelling occupied by two inmates, females, the paper hanging from the wall, rags stuffed in the walls and ceiling to keep out the draught, holes in the chimney, and pieces of tin at the window in lieu of glass. The inmates are cleanly people, but all the scrubbing etc., does not rid the interior of the musty odour from decaying timber and wall paper and scrim which should have been removed long ago. In Main Street there are several structures that should receive the attention of the local governing authority which has power to deal with such matters. We hope the Borough Council will exercise its authority.
