,* Girl Shot Dead for Trifling With a Lover.
Paris, June 2<?. Lucie Pantin, a washerwoman, aged 19, has paid by her life for trifling with the affections of two young men. Leon Charret and Alfred Millet, who had been friends from childhood, met in the street a few days ago, after having lost sight of each oilier for some time. They had both the same story to tell, namely that they were about to be married. Finally they parted after arranging a meeting between their respective fiancees. Yesterday, as Charret was walking to his sweetheart’s house to keep the appointment, he met her walking arm-in-arm with Millet. He was too surprised to speak, Millet joyfully introduced his companion as his future wife. The girl thereupon explained that she bad only been amusing herself, and would really marry neither of them. Charret, white with rage, drew a revolver and fired at them. The girl was mortally injured, and Millet had his shoulder fractured. The murderer was arrested.
