PROPOSED HARBOUR BOARD.

Discussed at County Meeting.

At yesterday’s meeting of the Manawatu County Council, Cr W. Barber called attention to the need of funds for carrying on the agitation in favour of the formation of a Harbour Board at Foxton. He stated that the Foxton Borough Council had voted £2O for the purpose, and he thought the Council, which would greatly benefit if the Board were constituted, should contribute something. On the motion of Cr McKenzie, seconded by Cr Barber, it was resolved that the Council is in sympathy with the Foxton Chamber of Commerce in its desire to obtain the constitution of a Harbour Board and that consideration of the matter be held over until next meeting to obtain legal opinion as to power of the Council to make a grant in aid of the object.
