During the early hours of Saturday last a member of a firm of master bakers iu Wellington, sleeping on the business premises, heard some commotion downstairs, and proceeded to investigate (says the New Zealand Times). The intruder evidently heard the proprietor moving, for the latter, looking out from an upstairs Window, saw a man disappearing down •a right-of-way. On reaching the ibakehouse the proprietor found that a tub containing some sixteen gallons of ferment (representing about 750 loaves)'had been capsized on the floor, while a hose, which had been hanging outside, had been connected with the tap and the nozzle inserted in a trough containing flour ready for mixing. Duckily, the evident intention of flooding the bakehouse and ruining the' contents, including some two thousand loaves of bread and fifteen sacks of flour, was frustrated by the timely discovery. The matter has been reported to the police.
