A gentlemen from Welli igton, who wished to purchrse property in Picton, asked the local paper if the people there were made of money, or if they thought that the town would outrival London in the near future. He had made three enquiries during the day, and felt somewhat satisfied. First, he asked the price of a quarter acre section in a residental portion of the town—^37s; then he thought he would go farther afield, and selected a half-acre plot in another direction As a last resource he ventured yet again, this time a quarter-acre in close proximity to the proposed new railway buildings—,£looo, The speculator and his cash returned to Wellington by last night’s boat. We advise the Picton people to adopt rating on the unimproved values.
