DUNN—MCGRA.TH
webb— mcgrath
A double wedding which created considerable local interest, was celebrated in St. Mary’s Church yesterday morning, at n o’clock, the contracting parties being Mr J. E. Dunn and Miss McGrath, and Mr J. Webb and Miss A. McGrath, both brides and bridegrooms being well-known Foxton residents. The interior of the church was appropriately decorated for the occasion, and a large number of friends and well-wishers assembled to witness the event. Mr Berthold presided at the organ, and played the wedding march as the party entered the church and made their way up the aisle. The Rev. Father Cognet officiated at the ceremony. The brides were given away by their uncle, Mr Conlan, ot Himitangi, both being charmingly attired in becoming dresses —M'iss McGrath in pale blue lustre trimmed with lace and applique, and Miss Annie in cream cloth with lace and silk applique trimmings over net blouse —with hats to match, and carrying exquisite shower bouquets ; they were attended by two bridesmaids, Miss Elsie Reeves and Miss Katie Conlan (the brides’ cousin), who wore exceedingly pretty white muslin frocks, trimmed with lace and insertion, white hats, and also carried bouquets. Messrs E. Webb and Chas. Cummerfield acted as best men, and Messrs Withers and Stanley Reeves as groomsmen. After the ceremony the wedding party and guests adjourned to the residence of the brides’ mother, where a sumptuous repast was partaken of, and the various toasts honoured.
The wedding presents, which were numerous and costly, were of a useful character, also including several substantial cheques. The brides’ travelling dresses were smart tailor-made navy blue serge costume (Mrs Dunn) and handsome dress of dark blue velvet with white satin and oriental lace trimmings (Mrs Webb) and pretty hats of cream and white respectively. The happy couples left Foxton, amid showers of rice and hearty congratulations, by the afternoon train for Palmerston, en route to Wellington and Wanganui, where the honeymoon will be spent. The Herald joins in wishing them every joy and prosperity in their married life.
