NO LICENSE LEAGUE.

A meeting of the above was held in the Good Templar Hall, on Thursday night. Mr W. S. Stewart occupied the chair. Regret was expressed at the unavoidable absence of Mr Ritchie, organiser. The Chairman explained that when he arrived, a special meeting would be called. At the invitation of the chairman, Mr- Rockel, of Carnarvon, explained the modus operandi of collecting (uuds, Mr Rockel said the organiser had expressed willingness to collect, but (the speaker) thought the leagues should devote themselves to this work, and leave the organiser free to carry out more important work. Kach league’s district should be sub-divided among canvassers, who should make a house to house call. The funds were to be paid to the Secretary of the Central Council, Mr J. Tobeck, Rongotea. The Chairman slated that, owing to stress of weather, the local delegates were unable to be present at the last central meeting, and as a result, had no information as to what happened. It was resolved, that collectors be appointed for Foxton, and a certain sum be guaranteed, A committee was set up to carry out the necessary details. A lengthy discussion took place in regard to obtaining the services of lecturers, and it was finally decided to allow the matter to stand over until the organiser visited Foxton. It was decided to send the petitions now being signed in reference to the Bare Majority to Wellington, as early as possible. Mr F. W. Fraukland was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his donation of pamphlets on the “Kiqnor Traffic,” written by Mr Alt. C. Morton, It was decided to secure a further quantity for distribution. It was explained that the next meeting of the Central Committee would be held at Bulls. The meeting then rose.
