MAGISTRATE COURT RETURNS.

, The following are the above returns for the June quarter : —The Court sat on 15 occasions, three of which were presided over by the Magistrate, and 12 by Justices ; 70 civil cases were dealt with by the Magistrate; aggregate amount sued for, 12s 6d ; amount recovered ,£419 5s 7d. Eleven applications were heard in Court or Chambers ; one order was made ; 90 plaints were entered ; 11 distress warrants were issued ; five judgment summonses issued ; two oaders on judgment summonses; 106 summonses were issued within two miles of the Court, and 32 over two miles ; 14 distress warrants were issued by the bailiff within two miles, and four over that distance. ,£26 2s was paid in civil stamps. Criminal returns: —Thirty-three persons were summoned, taken it?to custody, or apprehended, including three females ; six males and two females were discharged , one male was committed for trial, two males were summarily convicted, 19 males and one female were fined, one order was made, and three persons were convicted and discharged with a caution. . Criminal fees paid in stamps, ,£8 5s ; fines, £2 2s. Eleven Old Age Pensions were granted.
