UNITED IN DEATH.
Auckland, Tuesday,
A peculiarly distressing case of two sudden deaths in the one household, occurred at Parnell, when Mr and Mrs George Hardey, of Manukau Road, an elderly married couple, passed away within a few minutes of each other. Mr Hardey had for some years past been an invalid, and Mrs Hardey, in pursuance of her usual custom, went to her husband’s room at 10.13 a,m., to assist him to dress. Whilst in the room, she was seized with a heart attack, and fell to the floor. The noise attracted the attention of the other inmates of the house, who rushed in and picked Mrs Hardey up. She expired in their arms. Another shock awaited the others, who found that Mr Hardey whose health had been very precarious through paralysis, was already dead, it is presumed, from the shock of his wife’s death. Both Mr and Mrs Hardey were between 60 and 70 years of age, and had resided in Parnell for some years.
