Carl Legien, Socialist member of the Reichstag, addressing the German Trades Union Congress at Hamburg, claimed that the free Unionists now totalled nearly two million members, constituting the largest and most united organisation in the world, despite the continued opposition of the ruling classes. Capetown, Tuesday. The Cape Assembly has concurred with the Inter-Colonial Customs and Railway Conferences’ resolution favouring union of South Africa.
General Botha has invited the Transvaal, and Mr Fischer, the Orangia Assembly to concur. The debates are still unfinish ed.
