OBITUARY.
Mrs Rebecoa Coley, aged 78 Years. The late Mrs Rebecca Coley, who passed away last Friday at Foxton, at the ripe age of 76 years, was a resident of Foxton for 34 years. Her decease makes another gap in the list of this district’s early settlers. The late’Mrs Coley arrived in the Dominion 62 years ago, and was therefore one of New Zealand’s pioneers. In 1848 she married her late husband, Mrjas. Coley, of Mount Edqn, Auckland. For fifteen years after their marriage Mr aud Mrs Coley resided in Auckland, they then migrated to Otago, thence to Wellington, finally settling-down in Foxton. The late Mrs Coley was a very active body and a skilled nurse, kindly aud hospitable aud held in great respect by all with whom she was acquainted. Like all the sterling old pioneers, she brought a large family into the world consisting of six stalwart sons and three daughters, her grandchildren number 67 and great-grand-children 34. Her husband, one son and two daughters pre-deceased her.
The funeral took place on Sunday and a portion of the burial service was held in All Saints’ Church and the remainder at the graveside. The Rev. G. YoungWoodward, vicar conducted the services. We extend our sympathy to the deceased’s family.
