THE PRINCE OF WALES.

The Prince of Wales. H R.H. George Frederick Ernest Albert, second son of King Edward and Queen Alexandra, was 43 yeafs of age on Wednesday last. He became heir to the throne on the death of his brother, Albert Victor, 16 years ago. Prince George married in 1893 Princess Victoria (Princess May), of Teck, and they have six children, five sons and one daughter. As well as Prince of Wales, he is Earl of Chester, Duke of Cornwall and York, Duke of Rothesay, Prince of SaxeCoburg and Gotha, Duke of Saxony, Earl of Carrick and Inverness, Baron of Renfrew and Killarney, Eord of the Isles, and Great Steward of Scotland. He is also a General and an Admiral ; likewise K.G., K.T., K.P., G.C.5.1., G.C.M.G., G.C.1.E., G.C.V.0., 1.5.0., also 8.A., E-E.D., and a few other things. If he wore all the insignia of his various orders at once there would be very little seen of him. Pie has a hundred thousand a year, ,£20,000 of which is voted by Parliament, and ,£BO,OOO from the Duchy of Cornwall. He has a controller and treasurer to look after his cash, a private secretary to attend to his correspondence, a chaplain to look especially after his soul, and four doctors and a surgeon - apothecary to attend to the welfare of his body ; a master ot the stables, about a dozen equerries, a librarian, and sundry clerks and accountants. He keeps himself thoroughly well informed upon all public affairs, and is personally acquainted with every part of the British Empire. He has won the good will of the people by his exemplary life and the simple dignity with which he supports his high position.
