LONDON WOOL SALES

Dalgety and Company, Limited, Wellington, have received the lollowing cable message from their London office dated the 29th instant -.—The wool sales closed firm and active with brisk competition. Merino wools. —Prices are, on the average, at par to 5 P er lower than closing rates of March senes. Fine crossbreds 5 P er lower. Medium and coarse crossbred wools, wools ill light condition, and those suitable for America, are on the average 10 to 15 P er cent higher than closing rates of last series. Other descriptions aie higher by sto 10 per cent. Out of the net quantity available for sale (264,000 bales) 87,000 bales have been sold for Home consumption, 51,000 bales for the continent ; 6,000 bales for America, leaving 120,000 bales to be carried forward to the next series, of which 115,000 bales were not offered for sale.

LONDON MARKETS. Messrs Dalgety and Company, Limited, Wellington have received the following cable messages from their London House, under date of the 28th instant.—Butter Market quiet aud prices are steady. The Copenhagen Official quotetion is unchanged. The total imports of butter into the United Kingdom for week ending 23rd instant amounted to 68,ooocwt as compared with 92,000 cwt for the corresponding week of 1907 ; showing a decrease of 24,000 cwt, Finest, 104 s per cwt. Frozen meat:—Lamb market firm without change in prices. The market for beef aud mutton is weak and prices are easier. Tallow : Since our last advices for all sorts of tallow are unchanged, with the exception of mixed good to prime, which is a shade easier. Rabbit skins : Competition is strong. Out of an offering of 1937 bales, 1713 bales were sold. Since our last telegram prices are higher as follows : —Fair to good qualities, to 2d per lb, inferior, y 2 d to id-per lb. Leather: — Prices are y per lb lower. Basils : —At par to l 4 per lb lower. Horns: —ares percent to 10 per cent lower. Bones and hoofs : Any change in prices is in favour of buyers.
