Rome, May 30Paul Nikolaus, an engineer of Charlottenburg, arrested at Bari, describes himself as an anarchist. He delates that he followed the Kaiser to the Mediterranean, intending to kill a personage in the Kaiser suite. The police suspect that he intended to attempt to kill the Kaiser. New York, June 1. Cedritts, a well-known motorist, while racing on the Baltimore track, had his back broken through his car skidding and overturning. Sydney, May 30 Arnst is willing to accept Webb’s conditions as regards deposits, but demurs to the conditions laid down in reference to starting. He has written to Webb requesting a modification. New York, May 30. Theodore H. Price, cotton operator, has been indicted at New York for bribing officials, conspiracy to defraud and improperly making ,£150,000 through the use of early information, due to a leakage of Government statistics. Three others, including Edward Holmes, formerly assistant statistician at Washington, are charged with conspiracy with Price. London, May 30. Mr Winston Churchill, presiding at a South African dinner, said the depression in South Africa was gradually yielding to an economic revival. The historical result of the war in giving a single flag and eliminating duality had imparted a powerful impulse to federation. The Imperial Government’s attitude was essentially one of vigilance and encouragement. He hoped Mr Botha would play a great part in the up-building of a loyal, free, and united South Africa, with a unity as complete as that of Canada.
