The Manawatu Herald. SATURDAY, MAY 23, 1908. VOLUNTEERING.

MESSRSBarnard and Page have reason to feel pleased with the success which has attended their efforts in an endeavour to form a rifle corps at Foxton, and we hope that the enthusiasm at present displayed in the movement, will continue if the services of the company is accepted by the Defence Department. Much enthusiam was displayed at last night’s meeting. We have previously touched upon the benefits which will accrue to individual members of the corps, and we only wish to urge prospective members to be careful in the selection of their officers. The Herald wishes the movement success, and will do all in its power to promote its welfare.
