News from Collingwood records the death of Thomas Jack, who was well known in Foxton about six years ago. For over five years he was in the employ of Messrs Saunders Bros, of Moutoa, and Prouse and Saunders of West Wanganui. He was a very scholarly man and a gentleman. During this month he went to Nelson for his annual holiday where he died. To those who knew “Tommy” best the sad news will come as a shock. The road-machine has been forming the road near the bridge on the Shannon side, and is now at work on the Moutoa side of the Shannon Bridge,
