A young man of the farming class breaking off an engagement in order to marry another girl, the parish priest refused permission for the marriage, and the bishop upheld his action. Eventually, however, the marriage took place at the registry office On the night the man brought hfs bride home, some 30 men, disguised with blackened faces, and wearing crape, burst in the door and called upon the father of the bride to take his daughter home.
