ROBBERY UNDER ARMS.

Christchurch, May 19. Joseph Egan, James Keegan, and Frank Bolton, with several aliases, were charged at the Magistrate’s Court to-day with haying on May nth and 15th broken into and entered the shop of J. T. McHarg, at Wpolston, and stolen ,£lB worth of goods. The same men were charged with highway robbery underarms, with having assaulted and robbed Charles Marshall, and stolen from his person a gold ring, two keys, a purse, and £4. 5s in money, of ah aggregate value of £5 7s. These men are alleged to be the men concerned in the assaults and robberies in Fitzgerald Avenue on Saturday night and Sunday morning. A great crowd of people attended at the court to see them. Accused were remanded till May 26th. Should the offence be sheetetj home the men are liable under the Act to imprisonment with hard labour for life, and according to age, to be flogged once, twice or thrice.
