POLITICAL.
Mr W. H. Hawkins has announced his candidature for the Pahiatua seat. The other candidates are Messrs Cooper (Farmers’ Union) and Mr Ross (present member), Mr R. C. Bruce, of Hunterville, is mentioned as a probable candidate for the Otaki seat. It is stated that Dr Chappie, if defeated for Tuapeka, will also contest the Otaki seat. Other candidates- are Messrs Field, M.P., and Byron Brown. The latter will stand as an Independent liberal and NoIflcense candidate.
