The Manawatu Herald. SATURDAY, MAY 16, 1908. HARBOUR BOARD.
We crave the indulgence of our readers to-day for taking up so much of our space with Harbour Beard matters. Seeing that the project is of such vital importance to the town and district, we feel it our duty to place the matter on record. The whole question has been submitted to the Heads of the departments concerned, and it now remains for Cabinet to do the straight thing by the port and district. We are pleased to know that our local public citizens are at last awakening to the fact that nothing is gained without effort; the grandest victories are only achieved after the hardest struggle and much sacrifice. The deputation deserve the thanks of the whole community, for what we hope they have accomplished.
