TRUANCY CASES.
The truant inspector. Mr Kasther, had a field day at yesterday’s sitting of the S.M. Court. The whole trouble arose through parents failing to obtain exemption certificates from the headmaster. Magistrate Thomson has previously pointed out that notes explaining the absence of children from school or doctors certificates are not sufficient excuse. ISxemption certificates must be obtained from the headmaster, or failing that, from the Chairman of the Committee. Most of the parents proceeded against had good and sufficient reasons for keeping their children away from school, but had failed to obtain the exemption from the headmaster. Annie Walsh, Hans Andresou, Samuel Feek (twocases) O’Reilly, and Arthur Reeve, were each fined 2S without costs. The cases against Fred Dunn and Hugh Walls, were withdrawn. The Magistrate said it was unfafr to the children to keep them away from school.
