Reception at San Francisco. San Francisco, May 7. Admiral Evan’s fleet, which has been engaging for some time in target practice and manoeuvres off Magdalena Bay, has arrived at San Francisco. The fleet was welcomed by upwards of a million people, and the enthusiasm was intense. Sydney, May 7. The citizens of Sydney, at a meeting in the Town Hall, the Eord Mayor presiding, decided to co-operate with the Commonwealth aud the State Governments in arranging for a fitting welcome to the American fleet. [A cablegram from Melbourne, dated April 27, stated: “The State Cabinet has decided to keep in its own hands the entertainment of the American fleet. This is regarded as a snub to the Commonwealth Government.]”
