ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.
Timaru, May 6. Mr O’Meara, of the Stock Department, attempted to commit suicide at Temuka this afternoon. In passing a butcher’s shop he grabbed a knife from the sill, and then gashed his throat in two or three places. Bystanders threw him down and took the knife from him, and rendered first aid. He was taken to a piivate hospital. His injuries, though serious, are not expected to he fatal, Mr O’Meara, who is about to be transferred to Masterton, has been very depressed for the last few days. He is much liked at Temuka.
